ICC Rejects PCB and BCB Demands Over Tri-Series with India. The International Cricket Council has firmly rejected multiple demands raised by the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Bangladesh Cricket Board. These demands were discussed during recent ICC meetings ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. The PCB first demanded that India be instructed to play a tri-series with Pakistan and Bangladesh.
The proposed tri-series was suggested as a confidence-building measure and a commercial opportunity. However, the ICC rejected the proposal, stating such a series is outside its operational authority. The council clarified that bilateral or tri-nation series decisions rest solely with individual cricket boards. The PCB also demanded ICC intervention to restore bilateral cricket between India and Pakistan. Once again, the ICC refused, reiterating that bilateral engagements are not within its jurisdiction.
ICC Stands Firm on Governance Boundaries
Officials stressed that the ICC cannot force two member nations to resume bilateral cricket. In another demand, the PCB urged the ICC to ensure India tours Bangladesh this year. The ICC rejected the demand as well, citing the same jurisdictional limitations. The governing body maintained that the schedules are governed by the Future Tours Programme. Any changes require mutual agreement between the concerned national boards.
Sources revealed that the ICC repeated its stance multiple times during discussions. The council emphasised neutrality and adherence to governance frameworks. These rejections have disappointed both the PCB and BCB leadership. However, ICC officials remain firm on separating governance from political or diplomatic issues. The development highlights the ICC’s limited role in enforcing bilateral or regional cricket arrangements.

It also underlines the autonomy of national boards in scheduling international cricket. With the T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan approaching, tensions remain unresolved. For now, India’s cricketing commitments remain unchanged. The ICC has closed discussions on these demands, urging boards to resolve matters independently. The focus now shifts back to preparations for the global tournament.
