IND vs SA 2nd T20I Highlights: South Africa Beat India by 51 Runs to Level Series 1–1. With a dominant all-round display, South Africa triumphed over India by 51 runs in the 2nd T20I at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. This victory enabled the Proteas to bounce back very strongly after the loss of the first game and to equal the five-match series at 1–1.
After losing the toss and being put in to bat, South Africa had a wonderful contribution from Quinton de Kock, who scored 90 off 46 balls and just missed the century. His power play and aggressive stroke play set the tone. Later, David Miller and Donovan Ferreira scored useful runs in the death overs to ensure that the visitors reached the imposing total of 213/4. The Indian bowlers had a difficult time and could not stop the flow of runs. Their varying lengths throughout the innings helped the South African batsmen to dominate.
India Collapses Early in the Chase
In their chase of 214, India went off to a terrible start. Shubman Gill was out for a golden duck, Abhishek Sharma and captain Suryakumar Yadav were also dismissed in quick succession. That left India in a very weak position. The only player who put up a fight was Tilak Varma, who, with his brilliant inning of 62 runs off 33 balls, kept the hopes of India alive. He was scoring through boundaries and aggressive strokes.
But South Africa replied with wickets at regular intervals. Ottneil Baartman was the pick of the bowlers. He took four wickets and shattered the backbone of India’s chase. It was a cameo from the lower-order batsmen, but eventually India lost all the wickets. They got bowled out for 162 in 19.1 overs, thereby missing the target by a long way.
