Shimron Hetmyer’s 97* off 40 balls, capped by a sensational last-ball six, lit the Grand Prairie Stadium up.
MI New York team set a challenging target of 237/4 through dominance from Nicholas Pooran (108* off 60) and Tajinder Dhillon (95 off 35), who combined for a fantastic 158-run partnership.
Seattle Orcas began their chase positively with Kyle Mayers scoring 37 off 20 balls and captain Sikandar Raza blazing 30 off 9 balls. In the end, it was Hetmyer’s late fireworks – three sixes in the penultimate over and the last ball, which cleared the boundary to deliver a thrilling 3-wicket victory.
At one point in the match, the Orcas had a huge task in front of them, needing 9 to win off the last over and needing a boundary off the very last ball of the match. In the end, Hetmyer’s sharpness under pressure was noteworthy, especially since he was playing through injury.
