IND vs ENG: Fully Fit Jofra Archer Gears Up for Test Series Return. In a key development for England ahead of the all-important Test series against India, quick bowler Jofra Archer is back and fit. Many reports suggest that Archer is no longer battling a series of injuries. He is ready to return to red-ball cricket for the national team.

Jofra Archer Set to Return After Four-Year Test Absence

Jofra, who last played a Test in February of 2021 against India, has suffered many injuries. From elbow surgeries and a stress fracture in the back to most recently breaking his thumb during IPL 2025. Archer has recently returned to the field in county cricket for Sussex against Durham, where he bowled a 14-over spell and received a wicket—his first wicket in red-ball cricket since over four years ago.

With injury issues concerning their pace unit, including Mark Wood and Gus Atkinson, England would not have chosen a better time to welcome Archer back to the team. Chief Selector Luke Wright confirmed that if Archer comes through the county match without any concerns, he could be in contention for a return in the second Test at Edgbaston, starting July 2.

Archer’s reintegration into the squad, assuming his fitness after Durham, would be a huge enhancement to the attack going into the second Test at Edgbaston. His blistering speed—which has been timed as quick as 93 mph—provides a crucial weapon to England’s toolkit. If Archer is cleared, not only would his return be a massive story for this series, but it would also be significant ahead of the upcoming Ashes series in later weeks.
