IPL 2026: Shardul Thakur Traded From Lucknow Super Giants to Mumbai Indians For ₹2 Crore

IPL 2026: Shardul Thakur Officially Traded

IPL 2026: Shardul Thakur Traded From Lucknow Super Giants to Mumbai Indians For ₹2 Crore. Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur has been traded to Mumbai Indians (MI) from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for ₹2 crore. The Shardul Thakur transaction, a complete cash deal, indicates a reunion for the all-rounder with MI after almost ten years, having first begun his IPL career with the franchise.

The Deal & Details

The trade provides MI with depth to its lower order along with pace attack. Thakur’s pressure experience provides added depth to MI in conjunction with Bumrah and Pandya. For LSG, this trade provides some cap space and flexibility to the roster as they prepare for the upcoming mini-auction. Theu can now reconstruct their squad balance for IPL 2026.

Shardul Thakur is now one of the rare Indian players to have played for three franchises during his career in the IPL, demonstrating his constant appeal to teams. The Rising Pune Supergiant acquired him from Kings XI Punjab in 2017. In 2023 he was traded by the Delhi Capitals to the Kolkata Knight Riders. Now in 2025, he has moved, once again, to the Mumbai Indians from the Lucknow Super Giants.

In IPL 2025, Thakur played 10 matches for LSG, taking 13 wickets at an economy rate of 11.02. During his IPL career, he took 100+ wickets and scored important runs down the order, which led to his “Lord Thakur” nickname from match winners. His return to Mumbai is hoped to kick off his IPL career and bring further balance to the five-time champions as they head into another title hunt for IPL 2026.
