IND vs WI: West Indies Announced Squad For India Test Series. Cricket West Indies (CWI) has revealed a squad of 15 players for the two-Test series against India beginning on October 2 in Ahmedabad and ending on October 14 in Delhi. This will be the Caribbean side’s first Test assignment of the new World Test Championship cycle. It will be their first red-ball visit to India since 2018.
The side will be captained by all-rounder Roston Chase, with left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican serving as vice-captain. The selectors opted for a combination of youth and experience and focused on spin in subcontinental conditions.
The omission of veteran opener Kraigg Brathwaite, a fixture in the West Indies’ Test batting for over a decade, is one of the most striking decisions. Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Alick Athanaze have both been recalled to help reinforce the top order. Spin-bowling all-rounder Khary Pierre has received his first Test call-up following an outstanding domestic season. Pierre took 41 wickets at an average of only 13.56 in that season.
Full Squad
Roston Chase (C), Jomel Warrican (VC), Kevlon Anderson, Alick Athanaze, John Campbell, T. Chanderpaul, Justin Greaves, Shai Hope, Tevin Imlach, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Anderson Phillip, Khary Pierre, Jayden Seales.
With spin anticipated to be a significant factor, Warrican and Pierre will be central to their plans in India. They will be complemented by Chase’s off-spin. The pacers in the form of Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Jayden Seales, and Anderson Phillip will attempt to use their skills on softer tracks.
